Sherman Nelson

VP of Business Development & Branding, International Sport Achievers

Sherman M. Nelson, Jr. was born and raised in Chicago, IL and is a graduate of Howard University. While attending Howard, Sherman became intrigued with taekwondo and developed his first interest in the sport. Five minutes into his first practice, he knew it would shape his life.

Sherman is a two time National Taekwondo Collegiate medalist, National Champion, US National Collegiate Team Captain (1993) and US National Team Member (1999). He has also served as an Assistant National Team Coach for the junior, collegiate, and senior national teams with USA Taekwondo since 2005, where he has fostered the success of many athletes. In 2007, the US Olympic Committee voted Sherman as the “2007 Volunteer Coach of the Year”. Moreover, he develops and gives athlete and coaching seminars for USA Taekwondo.

In addition to developing his own skills and abilities in taekwondo, Sherman has unselfishly shared his knowledge with others. For over 14 years, Sherman served as a public servant with the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). It was during his time with DPR that his undying passion for fitness and sport development was further inspired. Finally, in 2006, the Mission Possible Fitness concept was born.

In 2009 Sherman decided to leave DPR and commit his whole heart to Mission Possible Fitness, where he is now helping people to become better, inside and out. Currently, Sherman serves as the VP of Business Development & Branding for International Sport Achievers.

In addition to his busy schedule during the week, he is also an assistant minister at the Carolina Missionary Baptist Church, where for 9 years he served as the Youth Pastor.
